Who this program is planned for

This page is for families in North Burnaby, Burnaby Heights, Brentwood, and Capitol Hill who want a childcare place for a baby or toddler when Royal Roots opens. Expecting families can join the waitlist once a pregnancy is past about four months, using an expected due date. A waitlist registration is free and does not oblige the family to enrol.

The centre is planned for Gilmore Place, Level 3, beside Gilmore SkyTrain station. A street number has not been published. Families who live more than 5 km from Gilmore Place are outside the registration area used by the waitlist form.

How the days are planned to feel

The planned day is play-based. Educators will learn how each child settles, moves, and communicates by watching ordinary play, and, only with a parent's consent, through age-appropriate screening with partner professionals. That screening supports a strengths-based learning plan. It does not replace a medical or psychological diagnosis, and Royal Roots does not give IQ tests or diagnose conditions.

A personalized learning plan is planned for every child and is meant to be updated as the child grows. For infants and toddlers the plan is about comfort, relationships, language heard in play, and the first steps of curiosity. It is not a school timetable. A clock-by-clock daily rhythm has not been published and will be published before opening.

Rooms are planned to be bright and easy for families to see into. Early Childhood Educators are planned for the rooms, following British Columbia requirements once a licence is in place. Royal Roots has not published how many educators will be in each room.

What is included, and what is still unpublished

The care program is planned to include the day at the centre, a personalized learning plan, and play-based early learning. Optional add-ons already described on the site, such as sensory play, music, and first-words experiences, are enrichment. They are not required in order to join the waitlist, and they are planned as separate choices families can opt into.

Fees are not published. Staff-to-child ratios are not published. Opening hours are not published. A phone number is not published. Licensing status will be published before opening, and that page will not invent a licence number. British Columbia's Child Care Licensing Regulation sets the ratios and group sizes a licensed program must meet. Royal Roots will publish its own ratios with its licensing status, before opening.

Provincial supports such as the Affordable Child Care Benefit, the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative, and the $10-a-day ChildCareBC program are described by the Province of British Columbia. Royal Roots has not confirmed fees or participation in those programs, because the centre is not licensed and is not open. Nothing on this page is a funded-place offer.

What happens if you join the waitlist now

The waitlist asks for family and child details so Royal Roots can send opening updates and, after the centre is licensed and open, offer spaces to registered families first. Registration does not hold a spot in a licensed program. There is no fee for the form. Records are kept in English so every family's details are handled the same way.

Until opening, the useful next pages are the learning approach, the parent programs that are planned alongside care, the licensing status page, and the waitlist itself.
